- Once you have gone through the online tutorial and watched the video, use the information you have gained to post a discussion on the following questions:
- List the 4 steps in a free throw shot.
- Compare the 4 steps of a free throw to the steps you use when shooting.
- What stages or key factors do you need to work on next gym class?
GLO: Students will acquire skills through a variety of developmentally appropriate movement activities; dance, games, types of gymnastics, individual activities and activities in an alternative environment; e.g., aquatics and outdoor pursuits.
SLO: Demonstrate activity specific basic skills in a variety of games.
ICT Outcomes: Students will critically assess information accessed through the use of a variety of technologies.
Why use technology?
- This lesson is enhanced through computer integration because it gives students the opportunity to visually break down the components of a free throw shot. These visual aids may not be available to a student in the gym.
- Using technology in a physical education class provides students who are less athletically inclined to shine in another type of performance other than just the physical.
- The questions provided will give students the opportunity to critically think about their performance on the court.
- Blog discussion postings can be used as an assessment tool besides the observation that happens in the gym.
- This may also be a critical tool for a teacher that is not a proficient basketball player and only has minimal experience on teaching the proper technique to shoot.
